On 5 July, the European Parliament in plenary session rejected the Bas Eickhout (Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance, the Netherlands) Report (on the analysis of options to move beyond 20% greenhouse gas emission Gold Crusher Plant reductions and assessing the risk of carbon leakage) by 347 votes to 258. The Parliament preferred to reject the report, which was to propose a move to a minus 30% greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target in 2020 compared to 1990 level, because of certain amendments which, in the view of some MEPs, would have watered down the EU commitment.

The decision of the Parliament came after, in relation to the same topic, the European Council had failed to accept the Roadmap to 2050 proposed by the European Commission (Roadmap for moving to a competitive low-carbon economy in 2050, COM(2011) 112 final).In the press, some articles accused an "undemocratic" "lobby fury" to be responsible for what they described as a missed Silver Crusher Plant opportunity.To Europeans who watch this from a layman's standpoint, there is understandably a lot of confusion about what this is all about and about the role of industry in this process. So, let us try and bring some much needed clarity.

The raw materials are delivered in bulk, crushed and homogenised into a mixture which is fed into a rotary kiln. This is an enormous rotating pipe of 60 to 90 m long and up to 6 m in diameter. This huge  kiln is heated by a 2000°C flame inside of it. The kiln is slightly inclined to allow for the materials to slowly reach the other end, where it is quickly cooled to 100-200°C.When set and hardened, it is as strong as natural stone and resists time, water, frost, mechanical constraints and fire. Typically, concrete is the essential material used in all types of construction.

Four basic oxides in the correct proportions make cement clinker: calcium oxide (65%), silicon oxide (20%), alumina oxide (10%) and iron oxide (5%). These elements mixed homogeneously (called "raw meal" or slurry) will combine when heated by the flame at a temperature of approximately 1450°C. New compounds are formed: silicates, aluminates and ferrites of calcium. Hydraulic Cement Ball Mill Plant hardening of cement is due to the hydration of these compounds.
